I recently heard from someone who was interested in ordering nutrisystem but she wanted to know how her order was going to be shipped.  She wanted to know what carrier would be used, if she could track her order, and how long it should take.  I’ll address these concerns in the following article.

How Nutrisystem Basic Ships:  How your order ships really does depend upon which package you order.  If you order a basic package (regular, diabetic, or vegetarian,) the meals are ready to eat and they don’t require a freezer.  They come in boxes and for the most part lay flat.

These types of meals ship via UPS, Fed Ex, and the United States Postal Service (USPS) depending upon where you live.  It differs for different parts of the country.

In your confirmation email, they send you a tracking number so that you can know where your food is and when you might expect it.  I find that it usually takes no longer than a week, but I’m sure this also varies depending on where you live. 

How Nutrisystem Select Ships (Frozen Gourmet Foods:)  If you’re ordering the “select” or frozen gourmet line, your shipping is going to be different.  Because the foods require remaining frozen, these packages ship via Schwan’s frozen foods.  They will deliver the food to your door via refrigerated truck.

If you’re not available or not home, they have these insulated boxes with little gel packs that will keep the food frozen for up to 4 hours.  I think it’s pretty cool that they don’t charge extra for this.  It’s free.  Again, you’ll get a confirmation and estimated delivery with your order so that you know when you might expect delivery. 

As best as I can tell, this is true for both individual / a la carte items and packages.  I normally order a package because it works out to be cheaper for me, but you can order any of the menu items without ordering a package and they would ship the same way – the ready to eat items would go UPS, USPS, or Fed Ex and the frozen foods would come via schwan’s.
